Farmers Electric announced it is raising the cost of the power sold to the City of Meadville residents and city council voted at the March 21, 2023 meeting to increase the electric rates 4% to cover the increase in cost of the commodity. The new rates will be applied to the April/May usage, bills sent out at the end of May, 2023.
The new electric rates will be based on your electric usage. Base electric charge $12.07 Charge for usage <=15 KW Electric rate level 1 - $0.2366 Rate charge per KW between 16 and 100 Electric rate level 2 - $0.1564 Rate charge per KW between 101 and 300 Electric rate level 3 - $0.13301 Rate charge per KW between 301 and 600 Electric rate level 4 - $0.10784 Rate charge per KW between 601 and 1000 Electric rate level 5 - $0.09089 Rate charge per KW greater than 1000

There will be 2 council positions on the April 4, 2023 ballot. The positions are currently held by Debbie Bennett & Brandy Barclay. If you're interested in running for one of these positions, candidate filing opens on December 6, 2022 and closes on December 27, 2022.
Candidates must be residents of the City of Meadville for at least one year prior to the election, be at least 21 years old, shall be a qualified voter in the city, shall reside in the city throughout his/her term of office, and be a citizen of the US. You are also required to be current on your state income taxes, personal property and real estate taxes. Council members have 2 year terms. Per city ordinance 2020-04 passed November 9, 2020, the sewer rates will be increasing. These new rates will be $39.50 for availability and the first 1,000 gallons. After the first 1,000 gallons, there will be a $4.50/1,000 fee in addition to the availability fee. Based on an average water usage of 3,400 gallons, the monthly bill for wastewater would be $50.30. $39.50 + (2,400/1,000) x $4.50.
Seeking individual to fill a part-time position as the City Clerk of Meadville. 12-15 hours per week at city hall in Meadville. Individual must be computer literate, with competency in Microsoft Office. Duties will include utility billing, payment processing, official record keeping of the City, updating the website, and other duties as determined by the city council. Must be able to attend monthly council meetings held the 2nd Monday of every month in the evening.

The City of Meadville will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. prior to regular Council meeting on April 11, 2022, in Council Chambers at City Hall located at 310 South Macon to discuss the past performance by the city in carrying out the City’s 2016 wastewater project. A land application no-discharge-drip irrigation system was implemented. Construction consisted of 130,000 L.F. of subsurface drip line, a shelter building for controls and panels, 3,500 L.F. of 2-inch forcemain SDR 35 piping, a land application system with appurtenances. All interested citizens and groups are encouraged to attend the scheduled hearing.
