Utility bills that were due on 12/10 that remain unpaid will be shut off Monday, 12/26/23, at noon. To be reconnected, a $100 fee will be assessed per city policy. 

We are aware this is an issue with accessing the .pdf files of your July utility bills that were just released. The fix is not possible online but if you would like a detailed copy of your utility bill, please email Bobbi at [email protected] and she can email it to you outside of the FrontDesk system. Or a paper copy can be mailed to you upon request. As a reminder though, Bobbi is out of the office Monday, July 31 thru Tuesday, August 8. 

The below survey was mailed out to all households a couple months ago. These are SUPER important for everyone in Meadville to complete and return. Without these completed surveys, we are unable to apply for grant funding to make the desired street improvements. The City of Meadville is seeking resumes for a part-time city clerk position. This is an appointed position per city ordinance.
Resumes must be submitted by email at [email protected] on or before Monday, July 10, 2023. Any applicants chosen to interview will be notified after that meeting. 
Position is approximately 12-15 hours per week at city hall in Meadville. 
Starting pay is $15/hour. 
Duties include and are not limited to:
Keying meter reads into utility system, printing & mailing of utility bills. 
Post utility payments & customer utility deposits to customer accounts. 
Draft ordinances, submit to city attorney for review.
Processing of liquor licenses.
Prepare door hangers for shutoffs.
Work with new residents to setup new utility accounts.
Coordinating with governmental bodies and city treasurer on city projects.
Check PO box, open mail.
Attend monthly council meetings & take minutes.
Post meeting minutes and other updates to city website.
Prepare & hang monthly meeting agendas, submit agendas to attorney for review prior to meeting. Post agenda on city website prior to meeting.
Candidate filings. Meet with candidates to complete required paperwork, submitting to county. Submit related ballots to newspaper for publication.
Manage city email account.
Respond to resident complaints regarding numerous issues. 
Grant research and applications.
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows.

Farmers Electric announced it is raising the cost of the power sold to the City of Meadville residents and city council voted at the March 21, 2023 meeting to increase the electric rates 4% to cover the increase in cost of the commodity. The new rates will be applied to the April/May usage, bills sent out at the end of May, 2023. 
​The new electric rates will be based on your electric usage.

There will be 2 council positions on the April 4, 2023 ballot. The positions are currently held by Debbie Bennett & Brandy Barclay. If you're interested in running for one of these positions, candidate filing opens on December 6, 2022 and closes on December 27, 2022. 
Candidates must be residents of the City of Meadville for at least one year prior to the election, be at least 21 years old, shall be a qualified voter in the city, shall reside in the city throughout his/her term of office, and be a citizen of the US. You are also required to be current on your state income taxes, personal property and real estate taxes. 
Council members have 2 year terms.

Per city ordinance 2020-04 passed November 9, 2020, the sewer rates will be increasing. These new rates will be $39.50 for availability and the first 1,000 gallons. After the first 1,000 gallons, there will be a $4.50/1,000 fee in addition to the availability fee. Based on an average water usage of 3,400 gallons, the monthly bill for wastewater would be $50.30. $39.50 + (2,400/1,000) x $4.50. 

​Seeking individual to fill a part-time position as the City Clerk of Meadville. 12-15 hours per week at city hall in Meadville. Individual must be computer literate, with competency in Microsoft Office. Duties will include utility billing, payment processing, official record keeping of the City, updating the website, and other duties as determined by the city council. Must be able to attend monthly council meetings held the 2nd Monday of every month in the evening.
